Caprese Salad
Is there another salad recipe as simple as this one? Yet, when it’s all put together, there’s no other salad quite as elegant as this. The taste and visual appeal are simply fantastic!
The original name is Insalata alla Caprese, meaning "salad in the style of Capri." The main ingredients?tomato (red), mozzarella cheese (white), and basil (green)?mirror the colors of the Italian flag. Because of this, it’s also called Insalata Tricolore, meaning "salad of three colors."
Knowing the meaning and origin of the salad makes it feel even more sophisticated and delicious. As you probably already know, it’s a recipe you can easily and simply make at home. Let me share the recipe!

Ingredients:
- 125g Clatvelle fresh mozzarella cheese
- 1-2 ripe tomatoes
- 1/4 small onion
- Salad greens (use any seasonal salad greens you have)
- Balsamic sauce
- Olive oil
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Wash the vegetables thoroughly and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Nowadays, balsamic sauces or glazes are readily available at the store. Dice the onion and mix it with olive oil, salt, and sugar to taste to prepare a delicious sauce. It’s great if you have basil herbs, but if not, basil pesto or skipping it altogether will work just fine.
- Slice the tomatoes in half and cut them into thin slices.
- Open the fresh mozzarella cheese, drain the liquid that comes with it, and gently pat the cheese with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. Slice the cheese in half and then cut it into thin slices to match the tomato slices. Don’t worry if the slices aren’t perfectly even; just try to match them as best as you can.
- Now, take your most beautiful and largest dish and arrange the prepared vegetables, tomatoes, and cheese in an appealing way. Drizzle the prepared sauce over the top.
No matter how you display the ingredients, this combination of flavors will always be elegant and delicious!
And once your wine is ready, all that’s left is to enjoy a delightful and happy time together.
